Two electrical engineers survived a direct strike by russian FPV drones in Dnipropetrovsk region on 17th March after spotting the incoming aircraft and abandoning their vehicle moments before impact.
The crew, dispatched by DTEK Dnipro Grids for a scheduled inspection of an overhead power line near a frontline village, noticed two drones closing in on their minibus and evacuated immediately. The first drone hit the front of the vehicle; the second set it alight. The minibus was destroyed. Both workers were uninjured. Police and emergency services were notified.
The incident is part of a sustained pattern of strikes on civilian energy personnel operating in forward areas of Ukraine. DTEK Grids crews work under a protocol requiring clearance from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service before any field repair can begin.
Despite the permanent danger, DTEK teams restored electricity to 38,656 households across 82 towns and villages in the oblast within 48 hours.
