A DTEK thermal power plant was seriously damaged by a russian missile attack in the early hours of 13th January, marking the eighth large-scale assault on the company's generation facilities since October 2025.
Repair crews began damage assessment immediately after the attack ended, with operations coordinated through grid operator Ukrenergo.
The attack occurred as temperatures across Ukraine dropped to -15°C, intensifying pressure on the country's power grid during peak winter demand.
The escalation in attacks since October has injured three power plant workers. Since February 2022, DTEK thermal power plants have faced more than 220 strikes, resulting in 59 workers injured and four killed.
The identify of the power station cannot be named for security reasons.
