As Ukraine fights to keep the lights on, the country’s energy sector is not only under attack from missiles and drones, but also a target of constant cyberattacks. To respond to this threat, DTEK has partnered with MODUS X and IBM to launch a new cybersecurity centre that monitors and protects energy system around the clock.
Protecting Ukraine’s energy sector
Energy powers homes, hospitals, schools, factories and businesses. Disrupting it is one of the quickest ways to destabilise a country. That’s why protecting digital systems is as critical as repairing power lines after a strike. On the frontline of this defence is MODUS X, DTEK Group’s cybersecurity and information security arm, who worked closely with IBM to deliver the full migration to the new operations centre in just three months.
“We protect the business, innovations and customer trust of DTEK, so it is crucial for us to secure all systems, including those that process critical data. We strive to ensure security at every level using zero trust approaches”, a MODUS X spokesperson said.
A stronger shield against cyber threats
With IBM’s advanced technology (QRadar® Suite) and MODUS X’ expertise, the new cybersecurity centre gives DTEK a much faster and sharper response to cyber threats. Attacks that once took hours to detect are now identified in minutes and it makes it harder for hackers to break through.
Proven results
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, DTEK’s cyber teams have blocked more than 150 million attempted cyberattacks. With the new centre built with IBM, DTEK can now detect potential threats five times more effectively, delivering more consistent, efficient and accurate security measures, thus keeping vital energy infrastructure safe.
