Global Technology Governance Summit 2021: highlights from DTEK Chief Innovation Officer Emanuele Volpe

World Economic Forum creates amazing opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders within open innovation approach that we use in our work”, DTEK Chief Innovation Officer Emanuele Volpe commented.

E.Volpe shared highlights from the sessions he joined within the Summit:

 •  In an effort to accelerate good Artificial Intelligence governance, the WEF launched Global AI Action Alliance

 •  It is not technology, but individual interest and collective interest at the center of AI governance model where companies treat consumers as participants in creation and design of these technologies

 •  In a recent survey on Americans’ attitude towards AI, the biggest concern responded is that AI assists surveillance and violets privacy. Europe has one the most comprehensive approaches towards AI, but in many cases the regulations concerning privacy are far from perfect

 •  Citizen trust must be put at the center of all data-driven policies

 •  It is important to define a well thought through data utilization strategy. Within data policy, most of governments think about privacy and security, but the missing link in the entire puzzle is how we are going to use the data and how the data is going to be accessed

 •  It is not data itself, but the insights what matters

 •  Consumer trust is the key ingredient in untapping the value of data. We should not talk about protecting privacy, but about empowering consumers to share

 •  By 2025 India plans to have digital infrastructure that people trust and are willing to use, and well designed market places for all industries (health care, agriculture, energy and so on) that will enable real democratization of data.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, was a panellist at “Scaling Up Digital Identity Systems” session. He shared Ukraine’s progress in digitalization of governmental services.

“For next 24 months we plan to keep developing Diia (Action) mobile application. We have an ambitious goal to digitalize 100% of essential state services. There will be no need to stay in line in state offices. We believe, Ukrainians will benefit a lot. No matter how skeptical people are about technology, they will start using it once they realize one can register a business in three clicks. We search for solutions in a private sector. We look closely to the startups that work with this technology to make service as convenient as possible”, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov said.
