Supporting DTEK’s
veterans

Since 2014
DTEK, like the rest of the country, is operating in wartime conditions. Our employees have stepped forward to defend Ukraine.

DTEK’s mission
We are proud of every defender who stood up to protect our country. We are proud of every defender who stood up to protect our country.
Veterans
DTEK’s mission – to support every veteran, man and woman, at every stage of their journey – from mobilisation through to their return to the DTEK team.
Support Programs
Veterans
Psychological support
We’ve strengthened our team of psychologists across our enterprises. Working alongside HR specialists, they stay close to our veterans and are always on hand to help – including support in adapting through mentoring. A mentoring culture has long been part of how our production sites operate, and it has proven its worth over time. Today, mentoring is taking on new meaning in our work with veterans. Every veteran is paired with a mentor – either their line manager or an HR specialist – who helps them settle back into their role.
Veterans
Retraining
After returning to work, some veterans may need to retrain. Our ten Academy DTEK branches make it possible to refresh existing knowledge or gain a new profession, quickly and effectively.
Veterans
Medical care
Every mobilised employee receives free medical insurance from the company. Wounded colleagues are supported through full patronage care, and veterans have access to our extended “Veteran+” health insurance package.
Veterans
Recovery and rehabilitation
Our recovery and rehabilitation programme helps veterans restore their physical and psychological health after service, and return to a full life and career. The company provides medical, psychological and rehabilitation support tailored to individual needs.
Veterans
Financial support
On mobilisation, every defender receives a voucher to purchase military gear from specialist suppliers. If wounded, the company provides financial assistance towards treatment. Should a defender lose their life, DTEK provides financial support to their family.
Veterans
Accessibility
We’re building an accessible working environment for veterans with disabilities – adapting our production sites and ensuring barrier-free access to workplaces.
We developed “MOZHU” (“I CAN”) – Ukraine’s first digital tool for matching people with disabilities, including veterans, to suitable jobs.
We’ve already created barrier-free conditions in the above-ground areas of two mines in frontline cities – less than 50 km from the front line.
DTEK currently employs 112 veterans with disabilities.
Veterans
Coordinators
DTEK has created a dedicated role – the coordinator – to give veterans personal, peer-to-peer support as they return to work. Coordinators stay in touch with colleagues during their service, and help them adapt, settle in and reconnect with their teams once they’re back.
Trust in action
Thanks to our defenders, men and women alike, we keep working, keep the energy front line standing, and keep our country’s economy running.
"I thought that after coming back from the front, I'd need silence. But it turned out to be the opposite – silence breaks you. So when I heard that DTEK was hiring women at a mine in my hometown, I decided straight away to try it. This job turned out to be exactly what I needed after service. I still remember warmly how the team welcomed me: they showed me everything, explained everything, and supported me. Respect between people, trust within a team, and the feeling that you're in the right place – these matter enormously to me. After service, it's especially important to find yourself somewhere life is in full swing again. At the mine, that's exactly what I found."

"What motivated me to return to work was the wish to keep living with dignity. If that's what you want, I don't see anything standing in your way. Someone who has been through war sees the world differently. That's why even small gestures of attention, support, or a simple step towards us mean a great deal. Don't look away – look at the world, and at the people around you."

veteran, miner
"I now work at MODUS X, one of DTEK's businesses. I chose this company because, at such a difficult time for the country, it's responsible for one of the most critical areas – energy. For a time, I defended the country at the front as a soldier. Now, in civilian life, I have the chance to influence the processes that people in the rear depend on every day. For me, that's also a way of being useful to my country."

Every person who returns from the front line is a great source of pride for DTEK. Our colleagues left their everyday lives behind to defend our country, weapons in hand. Today, they are returning to the DTEK family.

DTEK continues to develop its support programme together with veterans, building on their experience and needs.
We’re ready to share our best practices and experience, so that together we can build a veteran-centred society.
