DTEK held a press briefing for international media

On February 26, an online briefing was held by DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko and DTEK Executive Director, Head of DTEK Group Headquarters Dmitry Sakharuk. The topic of the meeting was the activities and contribution of DTEK Group to the work of the Ukrainian energy system in the conditions of the military invasion of the Russian Federation. The briefing was attended by representatives of more than 30 publications from the EU and other countries.

We share the key theses of speeches and answers to questions from journalists:

  • Under martial law, DTEK Group employees contribute to the energy security of Ukraine and hold the energy front. The activities of all enterprises are coordinated by a specially created headquarters of the DTEK Group, which operates 24/7 and is in constant contact with the Ukrainian government.
  • Energy facilities of DTEK Group - thermal power plants, coal mines, distribution system operators, retail energy suppliers, green generation, gas production assets continue to ensure the constant operation of the Ukrainian energy system and provide light and heat to Ukrainians.
  • Since February 24, the Ukrainian energy system has been operating in isolation mode and is successfully completing technical checks on its way to synchronization with the European energy market. The lockdown has been extended until March 6th. DTEK Group works in constant close contact with the Ministry of Energy and carries out all dispatching commands of the system operator NPC Ukrenergo.
  • To ensure the safety of DTEK Group employees, the maximum number of employees continues to work remotely. The enterprises have only employees critical for their functioning.

State of operation of DTEK Group's production facilities:

  • TPPs and mines of DTEK Energy continue to maintain the continuity of the Ukrainian energy system in the context of the war with Russia. 15 power units of DTEK Energy TPPs are in operation, 21 are in reserve. All thermal power plants of DTEK Energo, except for Luhanska TPP, are operating. Luganska TPP stopped due to hostilities in the city of Shchastia. All mines of the company are operating normally. The miners continue to extract coal to support the Ukrainian energy system. Station warehouses are stocked with sufficient coal reserves. Today 510 thousand tons are in stock. The supply and maintenance of coal warehouses is also provided, taking into account the situation.
  • DTEK RES enterprises located in Zaporozhye and Dnipropetrovsk regions do not currently generate green electricity. As a result of the hostilities, two overhead lines of the ZAPORIZHIEOBLENERGO were damaged. Completely de-energized and disconnected from the overhead line 150 kV - Botievskaya wind farm, Orlovskaya wind farm and Primorskaya wind farm (2 stages of the facility). They will resume their work in a few days as soon as the lines are repaired. The equipment of other power plants - Trifonovskaya, Nikopolskaya, and Pokrovskaya SES is operating normally, but without supplying electricity to the grid. NPC "Ukrenergo" has applied restrictions for RES enterprises to ensure the conditions for stability and balancing of the energy system of Ukraine. All stations of the company will be ready to supply electricity to the grid as soon as the relevant restrictions are lifted, and power lines are restored. Critically important empoloyees remain at the stations. Enterprises are protected. The Company will keep them functioning as long as possible under the current state of martial law.
  • DTEK Oil&Gas facilities are operating normally. All wells are working except 4 (the decrease in condensate production was stopped). Daily production as of February 26, 2022, is 5.04 million cubic meters. m of gas and 130 tons of condensate. Drilling and overhaul work has been halted.
  • DTEK Grid employees work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, repair damage to power grids and emergency situations after receiving the appropriate permits from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
  1. There are no damages to lines and equipment in Kyiv. In the Kiev region from February 24 to February 26, 2022, 4 settlements were fully restored, 10 - partially. 10 settlements remain completely disconnected and 20 partially. Employees of the company will carry out repairs as soon as they receive the appropriate permission from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
  2. In the Donetsk region. 63 settlements are de-energized. For 2 days, the company resumed the supply of electricity to 16 settlements. Previously restored lines and equipment were damaged. It is not yet possible to carry out repair work due to active hostilities along the entire demarcation line. As soon as employees receive permission to carry out work, repairs will be promptly made.
  3. In the Odessa region. Specialists are repairing damage on line 1 in the Krasnooknyansky region.
  4. In the Dnepropetrovsk region. Two high-voltage lines in the direction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station were disconnected. Restoration will be possible after permission to carry out work in the area of the Kakhovskaya HPP.

DTEK Group receives regular offers from European partners to support the company's production activities and specific employees who need help during the war. The support of the international community is needed today and gives strength and confidence. Together we are stronger!
