Oil and gas business of DTEK, as part of a pilot project, has tested downhole cameras in the wells of the Semyrenkivske field to determine the causes of obstruction while borehole geophysical surveys. DTEK Oil&Gas is implementing the project in cooperation with the international service company Weatherford, which acts as a contractor for cameras running in cased wells. The supplier of DHVI video cameras is Symoil. The cameras can be exploited under extreme conditions - at pressures up to 1000 atmospheres and temperatures up to 150-160 ° С. It permits to apply them for inspection of over 5000 m deep wells in real time.
The use of downhole video cameras allows determining accurately the cause of obstruction along the borehole. Utilization of the equipment in the wells of the Semyrenkivske field, DTEK Oil&Gas has minimized the time required for eliminating well obstruction by more than 75% and reduced the cost of such operations by 40%. The use of video cameras significantly increases operational efficiency, optimized wells’ downtime and contributes to the increase in gas production.
