Today, russia committed another terrorist act by blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam, which affects Ukraine's energy sector.

Kakhovka is one of a series of dams on the huge Dnipro River that together supply water to three DTEK thermal power plants (TPPs). All three are currently stable and continue to operate normally.

The explosion caused a drop in the water level in the reservoir at DTEK’s Zaporizhzhya TPP, which pumps water to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Our team is monitoring the situation and working with partners at Ukrainian state nuclear operator Energoatom.

DTEK is actively monitoring the situation and stands ready to balance the power system if necessary. We are coordinating actions with the Ministry of Energy and state-owned utility Ukrenergo.

We are also offering help to local authorities and stand ready to send nearby teams to evacuate local people.

Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, DTEK Group has restored power to millions of consumers across regions affected by hostilities.

DTEK Group is 100% owned by SCM Holdings. The ultimate beneficiary and sole shareholder is Rinat Akhmetov, a businessman and philanthropist.
