Eight power engineers of DTEK Odesa Power Grids have been awarded the Presidential decoration "For the Defense of Ukraine". The state award was presented for courage in eliminating accidents at power facilities in the Odesa region and ensuring the operation of critical infrastructure during military operations.
During the most challenging winter in Ukraine's history, Odesa Oblast power engineers rebuilt the region's energy sector from scratch six times. They made every effort to ensure the operation of critical infrastructure facilities, such as hospitals, boiler houses, water supply, and sewage facilities, as a matter of priority.
DTEK's dispatchers and specialists had to develop emergency power supply schemes, show all their courage when eliminating accidents at Odesa Oblast power facilities and restore the operation of public utilities during the hostilities.
For this, eight of the company's specialists were awarded the President of Ukraine's "For Defense of Ukraine" decoration.
"DTEK power engineers showed all their resilience, courage, and bravery while restoring electricity to customers' homes during the hardest winter in Ukraine's history, under the constant threat of shelling of energy facilities. They have become one powerful team that returns electricity so that doctors can save lives, businesses can work, and Ukrainians can stay in touch with their families and friends and move around the country and abroad,"
said DTEK Odesa Power Grids.
In April-May 2022, DTEK Odesa Grids restored the Kyiv region's power grids destroyed by hostilities during the enemy's attack on the region's towns and villages.
All this time, DTEK Odesa Grids continued to ensure the stable operation of the power infrastructure of the Odesa region despite the threat of air strikes or potential shelling. Odesa power engineers were also awarded certificates and letters of appreciation for their courage and professionalism on DTEK's 17th anniversary.
