Denmark's Minister of Business, Industry and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov and a delegation from the country have visited DTEK’s Tyligulska Wind Power Plant in Mykolaiv region to witness the construction of Ukraine’s largest windfarm, which is using turbines from Danish manufacturer Vestas.
Alongside Minister Bødskov, the delegation included Thomas Lund-Sørensen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine; Peter Johannes Boeskov, Chief Commercial Officer at Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO), and José Luis Jimeno Gutiérrez, President of Vestas Mediterranean.
The delegation reviewed plans for the second stage of the windfarm which will increase its capacity from 114 MW to 500 MW by the end of next year. Tyligulska already produces electricity for up to 200,000 households from 19 Vestas turbines installed during the war. Foundations for the additional 64 turbines have already been built, along with access roads and crane platforms.
The visit took place as part of the official Danish delegation’s programme in Ukraine, aimed at strengthening partnerships between Denmark and the Mykolaiv region. One of the key results of this partnership is the signing of a €370 million loan agreement by DTEK Renewables for construction of the second stage. This financing was secured thanks to guarantees from Danish export credit agency EIFO.
“Denmark stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. Putin is targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. That’s why we need to support Ukraine’s effort to rebuild their country. This Danish investment means green electricity enough for 700,000 houses. It means bringing more the light to Ukraine. Today I visited the site with Danish Vestas and Ukrainian DTEK. Both work hard every day to get the windmills standing and making a difference in lives of many. We will keep investing. Keep helping Ukraine’s fight for freedom.” – emphasised Morten Bødskov, Denmark's Minister of Business, Industry and Financial Affairs.
“Support from European partners is extremely important for Ukraine’s energy sector. We express our sincere gratitude to the representatives of the Danish government and to our main project partner, Vestas, for their attention to the Tyligulska WPP project, which will soon become the largest wind farm in Ukraine with a total capacity of 500 MW. The construction of this wind power plant is crucial not only for maintaining energy supply in the Mykolaiv region but also for the entire country at a time when every megawatt is critically important,” — said Oleksandr Selyshchev, CEO of DTEK
