Big Network Renovation: In 2021, DTEK improved electrical infrastructure for 300,000 customers in Kyiv region

New and upgraded substations, restored electric power lines, over 37,000 new electricity meters and inclusive customer services. This is an output of the Big Network Renovation program by DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids in Kyiv region in 2021. Operations of the company focus on improvement of power supply and service quality for 300,000 customers.

Kyiv region is developing rapidly. Modern and reliable power grid is imperative for satisfaction of region’s growing needs in power supply. DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids understand customer needs, which is why after implementation of incentive RAB tariffs in the country in 2021 the company launched its Big Network Renovation program, focused on network renovation and development.

“Within the framework of Big Network Renovation program in 2021, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids have restored 110/10 kV “Gostomel” substation and built 110/35/10 kV “Kozyn” substation in Bucha and Obukhiv districts, which are experiencing power shortages. Power facilities increased reliability of power supply and helped satisfy a growing need in additional capacity for current customers and connect new consumers to the grids. DTEK is a business that acts in the interests of Ukraine, develops energy infrastructure of the regions in order to provide customers with required capacity and sustainable electrical energy,” says Vitalii Shaida, General Director for DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.

Head of the company pointed out that in 2021, the company renewed over 1,000 kilometers of electrical transmission lines and equipped them with 160 modern reclosers. These devices will be able to autonomously restore power supply in case of minor accidents and inform dispatchers about on-line network status.

In case of any scheduled maintenance operations or power outages, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids will promptly inform its customers about it. In 2021, the company launched Viber-channel DTEK info КРЕМ that helps informing heads of condominiums and representatives of local administration about scheduled and emergency activities at the Kyiv Region Grid.

One of the reliable energy infrastructure elements is modern electricity meters. They help improve metering accuracy. In 2021, the company installed 37,000 modern electronic electricity meters. A provision for installation of meters was included in the company’s investment program and did not require any additional customers’ expenditures.

In 2022, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids will continue the Big Network Renovation program in Kyiv region.
