DTEK Advisory Council

Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt is the Chairman of the DTEK Advisory Council, bringing over 35 years of expertise in diplomacy and energy policy. In this role, he leads the Council's work to deliver practical, actionable guidance on energy security and resilience, long-term recovery, and sustainability, while advocating for Ukraine's contribution to Europe's energy security and the integration of Ukraine's and the EU's energy systems.

From 2022 to 2025, Ambassador Pyatt served as Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, where he led US diplomacy to bolster Ukraine's energy resilience and counter russia's weaponisation of energy resources. He was instrumental in securing energy security partnerships and critical mineral agreements with allies.

From 2013 to 2016, Ambassador Pyatt served as US Ambassador to Ukraine, acting as America's top diplomat in the country during the Revolution of Dignity (Maidan Revolution) and the subsequent russian invasion in 2014. From 2016 to 2022, he served as US Ambassador to Greece.

Ambassador Kurt Volker is a leading expert in U.S. foreign and national security policy with some 40 years of experience in a variety of government, academic, and private sector capacities. He served as U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations from 2017 to 2019, and as U.S.

Ambassador to NATO from 2008-2009. Ambassador Volker is the Founder and President of Alliance Strategic Advisors, LLC and a Distinguished Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis. He co-founded the American University Kyiv in 2022, the American University of Technology in Tashkent in 2024, and is a Trustee of the American College of the Mediterranean.

He serves on the advisory boards of BGR Group, the GW University Elliott School of International Affairs, and GLOBSEC, and teaches Transatlantic Relations with Arizona State University. From 2012-2019, Amb. Volker was the founding Executive Director of The McCain Institute for International Leadership, a part of Arizona State University based in Washington, DC.

Dr. Anders Åslund, one of the world's leading economists and experts on Ukraine, specializes in economic transition of russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Dr. Åslund holds the position of adjunct professor at Georgetown University and serves as Chairman of the International Advisory Council at the Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE) as well as the Board of International Advisors, Bank of Finland Institute of Transition. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Stockholm Free World Forum and previously served as a resident senior fellow in the Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council .

From 2006 to 2015, Dr. Åslund was a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Dr. Åslund has served as an economic advisor to several governments, notably the governments of russia and Ukraine. Formerly, Dr. Åslund served as the Director of the russian and Eurasian Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace . He was also the Founding Director of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics and a Professor of International Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics.

He has published widely and is the author of 16 books and editor of 16 additional books. His latest book, “The Reconstruction, Reform, and Accession of Ukraine” (2023), was co-authored with Andrius Kubilius, MEP and former Prime Minister of Lithuania.

Dr. Åslund served as a Swedish diplomat in moscow, Geneva, Kuwait, and Poland. He earned his doctorate from the University of Oxford. He has also served on four corporate boards and several advisory boards.

Pascal Lamy is the Vice-President of the Paris Peace Forum and of the European branch of the Brunswick Group . He coordinates the Jacques Delors Institutes (Paris, Berlin, Brussels).

He is also President or member of various boards with a global, European or French vocation: European Starfish Mission (ocean) , Mo Ibrahim Foundation , European Climate Foundation , IFPRI, PECC , CERRE , TMEA , Antarctica 2020, Transparency International , Alpbach Forum , Beijing Forum, World Trade Forum , WEF , Global Risks , Europaeum , Collegium international , Musiciens du Louvre , Institut Mendes-France, Colbert Foundation, etc.

He is an affiliated professor at the China Europe International Business School CEIBS (Shanghai) and at HEC (Paris).

Miriam Maes is an experienced international executive with over 40 years in leadership roles across the energy, sustainability, and climate sectors. She is the Founder and Chair of the Energy Transition Forum, a transatlantic think tank that brings together leaders from government, business, and academia to advance a responsible and timely transition to a low-carbon energy system.

Earlier in her career, Miriam served as Chief Operating Officer of EDF Energy’s non-regulated distribution networks in the UK and was Senior Advisor to the UK Department for Energy and Climate Change .

She also held senior positions at Unilever , ICI , and The Marmon Group. Miriam is currently a Non-Executive Director at Eramet and Assystem, where she chairs audit and ESG committees, and serves on several international advisory boards, including the TotalEnergies–Tikehau Investment Fund and Lloyd’s Register. She is fluent in English, French, Dutch, and German and is based in Paris.

Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine 2021-2024, Kuninori Matsuda is a seasoned career diplomat.

His distinguished service includes roles as First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in the United States, Director of the Overseas Public Relations Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Japan in Israel, Consul General of Japan in Detroit, Consul General (and Ambassador) of Japan in Hong Kong, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Pakistan.

Pierre Heilbronn is a senior French public official, economist and Inspecteur général des finances. From 2023 to 2025, he served as Special Envoy of the President of France for Ukraine’s Relief and Reconstruction, coordinating France’s engagement in support of Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction.

Previously, he served as Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and held senior positions within the French government and European institutions. In 2026, he became Chair of the Board of the Ukraine Cultural Heritage Fund.

He teaches at Sciences Po and serves as Scientific Director of the programme Europe in the World. His work focuses on European integration, strategic sectors, economic security and the mobilisation of public and private investment.
