Why it matters
RISE was created to address a huge challenge. Thousands
of Ukrainian factories, hospitals, offices, schools, and
shopping centres, live under constant threat of power
outages due to targeted attacks on the country’s energy
infrastructure. They also face extraordinarily high financing
costs, blocking much-needed energy investment programs.
Since the full-scale invasion, 70% of Ukraine’s thermal power capacity has been damaged, destroyed, or seized. To accelerate the rollout of the investments, the financing costs need to be lowered to a reasonable level, similar to Europe’s.
We believe the solution lies in decentralising power generation, moving away from large power plants and towards local, self-generated energy. This approach not only strengthens resilience but also accelerates the shift to renewables and clean energy.
