DTEK welcomes the decision by the US-backed Ukraine Recovery Investment Fund (URIF) to be a part of the €85 million financing structure for DTEK’s 200 MW / 400 MWh battery energy storage project across six sites in Ukraine.

Established in 2025 by the governments of Ukraine and the United States, the Ukraine Recovery Investment Fund is designed to bring long-term investment into projects that support Ukraine’s reconstruction and future growth. Its involvement in DTEK’s battery storage project reflects the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s energy system now, while helping build the foundations for a more secure and resilient economy.

The financing package was announced on 16th September, following approval by the US Government’s International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). Today’s announcement, following a meeting of the URIF board, establishes that both the DFC and URIF have decided to back the project.

The system, which became operational a year ago, is Ukraine’s largest: with enough capacity to supply the equivalent of some 600,000 homes. It was built by DTEK engineering teams in partnership with US technology provider Fluence.

URIF’s participation sends a clear signal of US confidence in Ukraine’s energy sector and in the country’s ability to deliver critical infrastructure even during wartime. It also a practical example of how international partners are helping turn support for Ukraine’s recovery into practical investment that strengthens energy security today and supports long-term reconstruction.
