Nikopol SPP starts green electricity generation

The 200 MW plant was built in less than a year. In April 2018 DTEK signed an agreement for the design and construction  of 200 MW solar power  plant with Chinese company CMEC. The first solar panel on the SPP site was installed last October. The solar power plant was put into exploitation   on January 2019.

“We are happy to launch such a large-scale project in Ukraine. The Nikopol SPP is the largest solar power generation facility in Ukraine. The power plant will generate over  290 mln kWh of green electricity, strengthening our country’s energy independence,” said Oleg Solovei, Nikopol SPP Director.

The Nikopol SPP consists of 750 thousand PV panels located on the former quarry site. These are low-yield lands, which cannot be farmed efficiently.
