DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company owned by Rinat Akhmetov, has signed an agreement to partner with US company Turbo Drill Industries (DBA “Scout”) to introduce advanced American drilling technology in the market and increase the country’s oil and gas production.
This marks the first cooperation of its kind between a Ukrainian company and Turbo Drill Industries. The technology is expected to significantly improve drilling speed and efficiency, making projects more economically viable across Ukraine’s oil and gas sector.
DTEK Oil&Gas, the country’s largest private gas producer, will become the sole authorised provider of Turbo Drill Industries’ Vertical Scout technology in Ukraine.
Ihor Shchurov, CEO of DTEK Oil&Gas, said:
“Ukraine has the second largest gas reserves in Europe and DTEK is working constantly to fully realise this potential as quickly as possible. Our partnership with Turbo Drill Industries brings worldclass American technology to Ukrainian gas producers, enabling faster, safer and more costeffective drilling. This will strengthen our energy independence and reinforce Ukraine’s role as an increasingly important energy partner for Europe.”
Vertical Scout is a robust mechanical drilling system, designed to stabilise well trajectory from the early stages of drilling, significantly reducing technical risks and financial costs. The system can deliver up to 30% cost savings compared with conventional rotary steerable systems.
Under the agreement, the technology can be deployed without permanent presence of foreign specialists, allowing operations to continue reliably despite wartime and logistical constraints.
DTEK Group is the largest private investor in Ukraine’s energy sector, with 55,000 employees and over €12 billion of capital invested since 2005.
Our businesses generate electricity at wind, solar and thermal power plants; distribute and supply power to end consumers; extract natural gas and coal; trade energy resources on Ukrainian and foreign markets; and provide domestic and commercial energy services.
Over the last 20 years, DTEK has grown into a national energy leader and is today transforming into a pan-European clean energy business.
Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, DTEK Group has restored power to more than 26 million consumers in regions affected by hostilities.
DTEK Group is 100% owned by SCM Holdings. The ultimate beneficiary and sole shareholder is Rinat Akhmetov, a businessman and philanthropist.
