“The company’s experts have been studying the renewable energy market for several years, looking for new strategic areas for business development. Today, the solar generation sector offers the largest potential for investments thanks to the technological improvements. This is why we decided to launch a pilot solar project,” commented Viktoria Syromiatova, Director of DTEK RENEWABLES. “Plans for further extension of the project portfolio in this segment will depend on the outcome of this project.”
Since land allocation procedures in respect of power generation projects are lengthy, the company has decided to purchase an existing SPP project. The company partnered with BETEN INGENIERIE SAS, a French engineering company that has a wealth of experience in the development of RES projects. A suitable project for the construction of a solar power plant in Tryfonivka village in Kherson Region, that has a high-level insolation and offers a good potential for the development of solar generation, was selected from BETEN portfolio.
Tryfonivska SPP will be equipped with solar panels supplied by Chinese company JA Solar, and invertors manufactured in Italy by ABB. The estimated annual electric power output will be 11-12M kWh. The commissioning of the SPP and generation of first “green” kilowatt-hours are expected in 2017.
“The development of the renewable energy sector makes an important part of the Ukrainian energy strategy which is currently being discussed. DTEK intends to be actively involved in the development of RES. We invest into the environmentally friendly and safe generation of the future. We focus our efforts on solar and wind generation,” underlined Maksym Tymchenko, CEO of DTEK. “In 2017, the company plans to commission its first solar power station and commence the construction of the 200 MW Prymorska WPP in Zaporizhzhia Region”.
