DTEK Group is appointing new leaders to its DTEK Energy, DTEK Grids and D.TRADING businesses to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine's energy system.

Ildar Saleev, who has been the head of DTEK Energy for the past four years and ensured the functioning and restoration of thermal generation in the face of unprecedented russian destruction, will strengthen the top management team at Metinvest Group, part of SCM Group.

In turn, Oleksandr Fomenko, who has been with the Group since 2000, will head DTEK Energy. During the war, he managed DTEK Grids and was responsible for restoring power grids after russian attacks, in particular to critical frontline regions. The main priorities of Oleksandr in his new position are to ensure sufficient electricity generation to support Ukraine's energy system; attract international technical assistance to restore destroyed generating capacity; and to ensure adequate production of coal.

His management position at DTEK Grids will be taken by Alina Bondarenko. Alina has been with the group since 2014. In recent years, she has worked as Chief Operating Officer at Grids and has been responsible for the implementation of investment programmes of distribution system operators. Her main priorities will be to ensure the prompt restoration of destroyed distribution networks and the development of Smart Grid projects.

The Group's trading business D.TRADING will be headed by Dmytro Sakharuk, who has been with DTEK since 2010. He coordinated the work from the Group's anti-crisis headquarters in the first days after russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. In his new position, Dmytro’s main task will be to accelerate the company's integration into global energy markets and speed the integration of Europe’s energy sector, with the ultimate goal of strengthening Ukraine's energy security.

DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said: "DTEK Group is going through unprecedented challenges during the full-scale war and constant enemy attacks on energy infrastructure. Our leadership team and employees face challenges that no system in the world has ever faced before. Today's changes are aimed at strengthening the resilience of our business and implementing the Group's long-term strategy – Ukraine's rapid integration into global energy markets and increasing the energy security of our country. I would like to thank the heads of all our businesses for their professionalism and contribution to building a sustainable energy system for Ukraine during the war."
