On 1 October 2021, the global EXPO 2020 exhibition will launch and run until 31 March 2022. It is the first time that Ukraine is participating in such a global exhibition at the highest level, including with the construction of its own pavilion, where Ukraine’s potential and achievements will be showcased to the global community. DTEK joined the Ukrainian energy delegation to demonstrate Ukraine’s achievements and innovations in the enegry arena.
Scheduled for six months, EXPO 2020 will feature subject-based weeks during which today’s most important challenges and opportunities will be discussed. The Ukrainian pavilion will open during Energy Week. Energy was chosen as the topic for the first week of EXPO 2020 as the world is moving towards radical changes that are imperative in tackling climate challenges.
“EXPO 2020 is a landmark event of global importance that will give participants an opportunity to exchange ideas and build a vision for a common future. Today, no country or company can ignore the trend of economy decarbonisation. The critical components of decarbonization of the energy industry in Ukraine are the development of renewable energy, energy storage systems, hydrogen technologies, and digital grids. All this requires significant investment, unification around strategic initiatives, and international partnerships,” said Dmytro Sakharuk, DTEK’s Executive Director, who heads DTEK’s delegation at EXPO 2020.
On 4 October, as part of the official events dedicated to the National Day of Ukraine at EXPO 2020, the Ukrainian flag will be hoisted during a grand ceremony and a Ukraine-UAE business forum will be held. The forum’s speakers will include Dmytro Sakharuk, DTEK’s Executive Director, and Emanuele Volpe, DTEK’s Chief Innovation Officer. The subject-based sessions of the business forum will focus on the challenges facing the energy sector and innovations, which is in line with one of the key sub-topics of EXPO 2020: sustainable development of society.
