“The pump automation allows us to maintain the system parameters required for feeding the units with condensate. We don’t waste power to maintain excess pressure now. When the flow changes, the pump alters its power automatically requiring no attention from operative personnel. Prevention of pressure fluctuations and hydraulic shocks ensures reliable operation of equipment, and power consumption cut means cost-efficiency,” explained Dmytro Savoliuk, Head of the Equipment Adjustment and Testing Department of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP.

“We have already been looking for ways to improve the CST pump operation for a while. After conduction of partial energy audit, the retrofitting was initiated by the Ladyzhynska TPP employees themselves, and the proposal of DTEK ESCO energy service company was accepted. The company has funded 90% of the entire project cost and has completed all the works within two weeks on the turnkey basis: the most feasible technical solution and equipment have been sought, and the system installation and commissioning have been secured. We instantly realized the saving potential benefits from which will be shared with our investor, ESCO,” said Oleksandr Bobryk, Director of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP.

* CST pumps are involved in a crucial process: they feed condensers of turbines with condensate during TPP power units operation, thus maintaining the required fluid level in them and returning lost condensate to the units’ process flow. The entire plant’s operation security depends directly on its CST pumps.
