In a recent article, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty shines a spotlight on DTEK, delving into the remarkable narrative of the Tyligulska Wind Power Plant (WPP). Against the backdrop of russia's relentless missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities and civilian infrastructure in 2022, deemed "acts of pure terror" by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the Ukrainian people find themselves navigating their second winter since the full-scale invasion in February 2022. Radio Free Europe's exploration of DTEK's story unfolds, revealing a tale of resilience, ingenuity, and unwavering commitment in the face of considerable challenges.

In the wake of russia's relentless attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities and civilian infrastructure, DTEK's Tyligulska Wind Power Plant emerges as a symbol of resilience. Maksym Bogadytsya, Chief Power Engineer at the Tyligulska Wind Power Station, reflecting on the challenges, expresses confidence: "We are very ready for the winter." The wind farm, predominantly established since Russia's full-scale invasion, stands at 114 megawatts, making it the largest of its kind in government-held Ukrainian territory. Despite being only partially completed, its significance is magnified in a landscape marred by external threats.

Facing construction limbo, DTEK's maintenance workers took matters into their own hands. Working under constant threats from above, they completed the installation of remaining turbines, setting a world record by installing one tower in just six days.

Adversity brought innovation as a frost-covered crane posed a challenge. In a testament to Ukrainian resourcefulness, a local drone-maker equipped them with a specially designed drone, flying through winter fog to apply defrosting fluid and get the crane operational again.

On December 4, DTEK and Vestas, undeterred by challenges, released a memorandum of understanding. The Danish company commits to supplying wind turbines for the second stage of the Tyligulska wind farm. This collaboration underscores a shared determination to push forward despite external pressures.

DTEK's journey with the Tyligulska Wind Power Plant encapsulates the spirit of perseverance, innovation, and determination, serving as an inspiring narrative amid challenging times for Ukraine's energy landscape.
