On June 2, the Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko presented three power engineers of DTEK Kyiv Grids with Presidential awards "For Defense of Ukraine". The specialists were awarded for their courage in repairing damage at power facilities during the occupier's attempts to seize the capital and for their dedicated work to restore the power grid after massive missile attacks on Kyiv's electricity infrastructure.

Thanks to the well-coordinated and professional work of the capital's power engineers, the enemy failed to plunge Kyiv into darkness in February-March 2022. Despite the fighting on the outskirts of the city and the enemy's attempts to capture it, DTEK's electricians repaired the power grid under artillery and rocket fire and restored power.

The power engineers also prevented the occupier's plans to freeze Kyiv by firing missiles at energy facilities in the fall and winter of last year. In particular, during the most difficult winter in Ukraine's history, Kyiv power engineers eliminated 5,105 incidents, including 348 caused by missile attacks.

"DTEK Grids are the foundation and support for the normal life of the country and Ukrainians. Despite all the challenges since the beginning of the full-scale offensive, our specialists are proud to bear the title of power engineer! They show true courage, bravery and professionalism every day. The electricians of DTEK Kyiv Grids have become a powerful team that keeps the electricity flowing so that doctors can save lives, businesses can work, and Ukrainians can stay in touch with their families and friends and move around the country and abroad,"

said DTEK Kyiv Grids.

The three specialists awarded the President of Ukraine's decoration "For Defense of Ukraine" were: Vyacheslav Kachkar-Lytvyn, an electrician of the operational field team; Yevhen Anashkin, head of the cable line repair unit; and Oleksandr Kotyk, head of the substation repair and maintenance center.
