War impact on the ecosystems of Ukraine and Europe: infographic study supported by DTEK

DTEK joined the initiative called  "Russia-Ukraine war: environmental impact". The infographic study aims to explain harmful effect of the war to the environment of Ukraine and the continent and demonstrate what kind of help Ukraine needs besides weapons.

The "Russia-Ukraine war: environmental impact" is a study performed by the TOP Lead content marketing agency,  in cooperation with the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborca and partneres by  the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine and supported by DTEK and other Ukrainian businesses.

The 35-page infographic displays the unique nature of Ukraine, the impact of the war on the ecosystem (land, air, water)  and the footprint of the ecosystem’s destruction on the human health. On top of that the study will  display russia’s war crimes, like the blow up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam and nuclear terrorism.

The study also visualizes the role of renewable energy sources in rebuilding Ukraine.

The study shows that from 2021 to May 2023, EU countries increased their renewable energy capacity by 39.5%. The future of Ukrainian energy is also green, so the study has a separate chapter  dedicated to developing renewable energy in Ukraine and the EU.

"The development of green energy is not only a response to the climate challenge but also our need to strengthen energy security. russia's war against Ukraine has accelerated the global energy transition, and I am confident that Ukraine can be at the forefront of this process. Our recovery will be based on green energy,"

explains Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK.

Despite russia's ongoing full-scale inavsion of  Ukraine, DTEK Group has commissioned the I  stage of the Tyligulska wind farm. The facility is DTEK’s contribution  to  achieving the goals of the 30 by 2030 initiative, aiming at  30 GW of installed renewable energy capacity in Ukraine by 2030

This study will also become one of the essential analytical materials for preparing and representing Ukraine at the largest climate conference - COP28, organized by the UN in Dubai (UAE) in November-December.
