Being a socially responsible organization, Academy DTEK focuses on promoting sustainable development by providing quality lifelong learning for all. This was stated by Academy DTEK's Rector Valeria Zabolotna at the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality event, organized by the United Nations General Assembly on March 10th.
During the round table, Valeria Zabolotna noted that in 2020, DTEK launched a new 2030 Strategy, which is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and meets the ESG principles: “Academy DTEK supports the objectives of the United Nations Global Compact, including Goal No. 5 “Ensuring gender equality, empowering all women and girls” by maintaining a gender balance. The Academy also implements the fourth Women's Empowerment Principle (WEP) “Promote Education, Training and Professional Development for Women” and is ready to share its expertise.”
She also added that based on research from the International Labor Organization, if 30 to 40% of women are members of the company's management bodies, the company is on average 18% more prosperous. And if business management adheres to gender equality on the 50/50 principle, such a business is 20% more effective.
To us, women's leadership is more than just words. Nearly 75% of senior management positions at DTEK Academy are occupied by women who implement projects efficiently and are committed to the development of a new generation of managers both in business and public spheres,” commented the Rector.
Valeria added that in designing its programs, DTEK Academy adheres to gender equality by involving women experts on an equal basis with men.
“We are developing and implementing a women's leadership program, which will enable women to establish the strategy for their professional development as leaders,” added the Rector.
DTEK adheres to the Principles of Sustainable Development and has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact since 2007. In 2010, the company became part of the Global Compact alliance in Ukraine. In 2020, DTEK launched a new long-term strategy based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the ESG principles (Environmental, Social, Governance).
