Multiple world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk has joined DTEK Group’s global initiative to mobilise international support for restoring Ukraine’s energy infrastructure damaged by russian attacks.
The partnership, under the slogan “The future’s bright, when you stand up and fight” launches ahead of Usyk’s boxing match against Daniel Dubois, scheduled for 19 July 2025 at Wembley Stadium in London. It is part of a broader DTEK initiative aimed at international involvement in supporting, rebuilding and protecting Ukraine’s energy sector.
Oleksandr Usyk is a constant supporter of our heroic energy workers who risk their lives daily to restore power supply following massive drone and missile strikes.
“Light represents life, the future and hope. Even when the darkness seems endless, we know that we must fight for a bright future,” says Usyk.
Veterans who have served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and returned to work at DTEK and Metinvest, along with veterans supported by Rinat Akhmetov’s charity initiative “Heart of Azovstal”, which assists the defenders of Mariupol and their families, will once again travel to London to support Oleksandr Usyk during his fight. Similar trips were arranged for Usyk’s fights in Saudi Arabia in May and December 2024.

This initiative is also about gratitude and support for our defenders and veterans who have returned to work at DTEK, helping rebuild the energy sector and the country as a whole,” explains DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko.
Since the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, DTEK has invested UAH 19.5 billion in restoring thermal power plants and electricity grids damaged by russian attacks and has also built the first phase of a new wind power plant in southern Ukraine.
Over almost three and a half years of war, DTEK energy workers have restored power to 20 million households.
