It has become the rule that businesses have to incorporate global climate policies. Public demand means energy companies must change by increasing clean energy generation, operating according to ESG principles (Environmental, Social, Governance). DTEK’s Executive Director Dmytro Sakharuk addressed this when he spoke about "Global Climate Policy. What should business be ready for?" at the Kyiv International Economic Forum.
He said, "Climate change is no longer just a trend but a reality. We are aware that if an energy company does not change and does not join the decarbonisation course, it loses its competitive advantage. Changing ourselves is a big objective for DTEK. Therefore, in the New Strategy 2030 we are committed to transforming the company into a more environmentally friendly, efficient and technologically advanced business. The implementation of the strategy will deliver a significant contribution of DTEK to the decarbonisation of Ukraine’s economy and Europe’s as a whole."
The key components of the decarbonisation process are growing capacity for RES energy production, development of energy storage systems, implementation of hydrogen projects, and modernisation of the power grids.
