- DTEK thermal power stations attacked the night of the 9th-10th October; one energy worker injured
- Equipment severely damaged in third attack on company facilities within a week
- DTEK's thermal power stations have been targeted over 200 times since February 2022
russia launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure overnight, striking DTEK Energy's thermal power stations and injuring an energy worker.
The attack caused severe damage to power station equipment. The injured worker received immediate medical assistance and was transported to hospital.
DTEK's engineers began damage assessment and restoration work as soon as the strikes ended. We cannot identify the power stations for national security reasons.
This marks the third attack on DTEK facilities in less than a week. On 7th October, strikes on a thermal power station injured two energy workers. The same day, a DTEK coal enrichment plant in Donetsk region came under attack. On 3rd October, russia targeted DTEK's gas production infrastructure in Poltava region.
Since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, DTEK’s thermal power stations alone have been attacked more than 200 times.
DTEK is working to maintain energy supplies whilst accelerating the construction of decentralised energy infrastructure that is more resilient to attack. At the direction of DTEK shareholder Rinat Akhmetov, the company is developing multiple wind, solar and battery installations that are typically harder to target and faster to repair.
