russian forces launch massive attack against DTEK thermal power plants in Ukraine

Earlier this morning on Friday March 22, russia carried out massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, severely damaging equipment at DTEK plants.

Multiple DTEK thermal power plants were hit, causing severe damage.

Initial reports suggest two energy workers at our power stations have been injured. Our assessment of potential other casualties is continuing.

Since the beginning of this heating season, DTEK thermal power plants have been attacked by the enemy more than 40 times, and since the start of the full-scale invasion - more than 160 times.

UPDATE

Due to a large-scale enemy attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, power supplies to DTEK's coal mining facilities in the Dnipropetrovs'k region failed.

At the time, 1,060 miners were underground. Immediately after the blackout, the company implemented emergency response plans, switched on backup power supplies and began evacuating miners to the surface.

As of 11am Ukraine time, almost all miners have been brought to the surface.

Miners are being given medical checks. So far nobody has bee found to have been injured.

DTEK engineers are working to restore power to mines once again using backup systems. No coal is currently being produced but we expect production to resume once the necessary preparatory work is completed.
