Corum Group (DTEK Energy) machine builders have manufactured a cutting-edge RH220 roadheader. The new machine has a higher capacity and is more reliable vis-a-vis its predecessors and is fitted with remote controls to ensure a safe work of miners. It is the first time that the factory's specialists produced a roadheader on the company's new production site in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The RH220 roadheader is a new high-capacity tunnelling machine, which will open up new opportunities for the miners. Weighing 80 tonnes, RH220 is designed to mechanise the processes of shearing, loading and transporting broken rock. As it has a higher capacity, the machine is capable of handling stronger rocks. While assembling the roadheader, our machine builders used components from the best European manufacturers, which improves the operational reliability and safety of the mechanisms. The equipment can be operated remotely, and its operation can be monitored online from the mine surface. The miner workplace is equipped with a control panel, ensuring safety at the workplace.
DTEK Energy's machine building companies were among the first businesses to successfully move their production capacities during the war from areas where military hostilities are underway to other regions of Ukraine. This will enable them to ensure continuous supplies of equipment that the Ukrainian miners need.
"In the same way as Ukrainian defenders need modern weapons to defeat the enemy, our miners need modern equipment in order to keep the home front safe. Despite the war and relocation, our machine builders give birth to novel pieces of equipment. RH220 will help Ukrainian miners produce coal faster and safer, and this guarantees a reliable operation of thermal power plants and ultimately lights and warmth in Ukrainians' homes", said Ildar Saleev, DTEK Energy's CEO.
After the successful tests are completed, machine builders will start batch production of this roadheader.
