The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, and the Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, awarded four power engineers of DTEK Odesa Power Grids with state awards for their contribution to providing electricity to Ukrainians during the war.
The Minister of Energy and the Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration thanked the entire team of the company for their heroic work in wartime in the region and for helping to restore electricity to the homes of Ukrainians in other areas, including Kherson, Donetsk, Lviv, Vinnytsia and de-occupied Kyiv.
"We understand the challenges ahead. However, I am confident that we will survive thanks to the dedicated work of our power engineers − those who bring light and prove every time that the enemy has no chance to destroy our power system. Therefore, I would like to recognize and thank each of you for the work you do for people," emphasized German Galushchenko, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
In the Odesa region, DTEK Odesa Power Grids "raised" the power system from scratch six times during the last autumn and winter, which was the most difficult in the history of independent Ukraine.
The teams had to work under the constant threat of shelling. Nevertheless, they managed to restore 81 power facilities damaged by enemy shelling. DTEK's power engineers have become one powerful team to help doctors save lives, businesses operate, and Ukrainians stay in touch with their families and friends and move around the country.
"I would like to thank the power engineers, the specialists who are on guard at the energy front around the clock. During the most difficult winter in Ukraine's history, you have made every effort to ensure the operation of critical infrastructure facilities - hospitals, boiler houses, water supply, and sewage facilities - as a priority. The winter has shown that your work is vital and enormous. Therefore, the presentation of the awards is another opportunity to show you our respect," added Oleh Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.
Serhiy Makarov, the relay protection maintenance engineer, was awarded a diploma from the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. Oleksandr Bugr, Head of the Center for the Repair and Operation of High Voltage Lines, Stanislav Bogunov, Foreman for the Repair and Operation of High Voltage Lines, and Oleksiy Gladkykh, Distribution Network Repair and Operation Engineer, were awarded the Excellence in Energy badge.
In April 2023, DTEK Odesa Power Grids awarded eight power engineers with the Presidential decoration "For the Defense of Ukraine". The state award was presented for courage in eliminating accidents at power facilities in the Odesa region and ensuring the operation of critical infrastructure during hostilities.
