DTEK Renewables have opened the second section in Mykolaiv Region as part of the Let’s Play! project of FC Shakhtar. This is a joint project of Shakhtar Social Charitable Foundation and DTEK, aimed at developing children’s amateur football. The project has already been implemented in 43 municipalities of Ukraine.
The grand opening of the Let’s Play! project was held in the village of Koblevo on a specially prepared field for mini football. Starting today, the children of Koblevo, aged from 7 to 12, will be able to attend football classes and participate in competitions free of charge throughout the year, under the guidance of experienced coaches. Symbolic training for young sportspeople was conducted by the qualified coach Evgeniy Nesin. Thanks to professional equipment and excellent training, the little footballers enjoyed the game and scored some beautiful goals.
“Thanks to the Let’s play! project, children from across Ukraine can now receive football training free of charge. DTEK is genuinely proud of its partnership with Shakhtar Social and it is a great honor to be a partner of this social project. Team spirit, fair play, respect for rules and other players, a sense of mutual benefit and discipline – these values of the DTEK project are fully supported”, said DTEK CHIEF OFFICER OF HUMAN RESOURCES, SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENT Olena Semych. She added, “DTEK has always supported young people, and as a socially responsible business we support social partnership projects, expanding the accessibility of and participation in sports, creating opportunities for the training development of talented young people. Such activities help us achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which DTEK has integrated into the ESG strategy”.
On the project’s opening day, a surprise awaited guests, as legendary FC Shakhtar and Ukraine striker Andriy Vorobey joined the event. The guest of honor not only delighted the children with his appearance, but he also took part in a symbolic match, after which he gladly handed out autographs and took photos with the future football stars.
“Such events are very important not only for villages in Ukraine, but they actually find new football stars among our young people. Who knows, maybe these are the future stars of our national team. I want to thank FC Shakhtar and DTEK for implementing such an initiative”, the former striker commented.
A party atmosphere and gifts welcomed the children at today’s ceremony. The organizers also took every possible precaution by screening guests for their temperature and providing protective masks and sanitizer.
“When we came to the community to meet and talk about the possible construction of the Tiligul wind farm two years ago, we said that that DTEK was a reliable social partner. We care about the future of our communities, so we are happy to support their development in various fields. Today, we are starting with sport; soon, we will begin implementing social projects in infrastructure, educational and medical institutions, and energy efficiency”, explained Oleg Solovey, Director of DTEK Tiligul wind farm.
