On August 24, the world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will perform a concert on Constitution Square, Kyiv, to mark the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence. The event will also be the first of fundraisers to help launch the Center for Contemporary Art - Ivan Marchuk Museum in Kyiv. DTEK, an active investor in Ukraine's development for over 16 years, has joined this initiative and intends to contribute towards the celebration of Ukraine's 30th anniversary and the development of contemporary Ukrainian art.
"The 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence is an important milestone for the history of our country. Celebrating it today, we are supportive of the President's initiative, which seeks to bring Ukraine and the world's perception of it as the country to a qualitatively new level. Attracting world-class artists by combining cultural traditions with the modernity of multimedia art in a charitable event is an important collective step towards launching the Center for Contemporary Art and promoting Ukraine's powerful creative energy across the world," said CEO of DTEK Maxim Timchenko.
The main ideas behind the creation of the Center for Contemporary Art - Ivan Marchuk Museum are the presentation and promotion of Ukrainian art. This center will provide an innovative art space that accommodates the work of all contemporary artists.
To launch this initiative, the charity ModernArtFoundation was created, which, together with DTEK and other companies, co-organized Andrea Bocelli's concert. Each concert guest will have the unique opportunity to join this charitable event by donating towards the establishment of the Center for Contemporary Art - Museum of Ivan Marchuk. This action is called "The Voice of My Soul," like the first cycle of works by Ivan Marchuk.
Additionally, four of Ukraine's most famous singers will perform alongside Andrea Bocelli. They are Liudmyla Monastyrska and Tamara Kalinkina, soloists from the National Opera of Ukraine, in addition to Tina Karol and Jamala - both former contestants on the Eurovision, with the latter a winner in 2016. The singers will be accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Sirenko, and the G. Veryovka Ukrainian National Honoured Academic Folk Choir. The famed Maestro Marcello Rota will conduct the orchestra.
