For 16 days now, Ukraine has been resisting a russian military invasion. DTEK continues to do everything possible to ensure the stable operation of the energy system of Ukraine and support the country, its people, and its army.
A few days ago, we turned to international partners and friends of Ukraine with two requests - to impose an embargo on the purchase of russian oil and gas, and to shelter the sky over nuclear power plants in Ukraine. These initiatives fully coincide with the policy of the Ukrainian government.
We are very grateful to Ukraine's international partners for what has been done towards the introduction of the embargo. In particular, on March 8th, the U.S. announced an executive order to ban the import of russian oil, liquefied natural gas and coal to the United States, the EU presented a plan to cut russian gas imports by two-thirds this year and the UK took decision to phase out imports of russian oil by the end of the year. We are confident that these measures will help weaken russia economically in the very near future, depriving it of the opportunity to finance the war against Ukraine.
However, the threat of a nuclear catastrophe due to the shelling of nuclear power plants is still relevant. For the sake of ensuring the safety of people not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe and around the world, we ask you to support our call and shelter the sky over nuclear power plants in Ukraine. Together we can prevent the worst catastrophe that has ever threatened humanity.
