On October 4, the Ukrainian-Emirati Business Forum took place at the Expo 2020 Dubai as part of the National Day of Ukraine. The event brought together Ukrainian government officials, experts, and corporate top managers to present Ukraine's economic and investment potential to the global community.
The sessions of the Business Forum were devoted to energy issues and innovations that correspond to Sustainability, one of the key sub-themes of Expo 2020 Dubai. Dmytro Sakharuk, DTEK Executive Director and Emanuele Volpe, DTEK Chief Innovation Officer, were the speakers at the Ukrainian-Emirati Business Forum .
"Decarbonisation is one of the global trends that determines changes in energy. The key components of the process are the increase of renewable energy production, the development of energy storage systems, the implementation of hydrogen projects and the modernization of power grids. Investments in these processes and projects will allow Ukraine to create a competitive energy sector that meets the goal of sustainable development, and thus maintain its position in the European market,” said Dmytro Sakharuk, DTEK Executive Director.
Ukraine is participating in Expo at the highest level for the very first time. In particular, Ukraine constructed its own pavilion in which the economic and investment potential and achievements of Ukraine are demonstrated. DTEK has joined the Ukrainian delegation representing the energy sector, and shared the achievements and innovations in the energy sector.
"Expo is one of the largest and most significant events for the development of innovation and the technological community in the world. It is also a great opportunity to demonstrate what Ukraine has achieved. During the Ukrainian-Emirati Forum, DTEK as an innovative leader in the energy sector, shared how we work with new exponential and disruptive technologies, and develop the innovative ecosystem. Innovation DTEK team is planning many activities within Expo 2020 Dubai,” said Emanuele Volpe, DTEK Chief Innovation Officer.
Expo 2020 Dubai includes thematic weeks and many events during which people will discuss the most important issues of our time. The Ukrainian pavilion started its work with the Energy Week. Energy is the first theme at Expo 2020 Dubai, because the world is on the path of change, and without the transformation of the energy sector it is impossible to meet climate challenges and ensure sustainable development of world economies.
Expo 2020 Dubai is said to be the largest and most valuable event in the 100 years of history of world exhibitions. The area of the exhibition space is 438 hectares (for comparison, the 2015 Milan Expo had 110 hectares), where 192 participating countries present their pavilions.
For 170 years, the World Expo have been a platform for innovation: shaping modern society, demonstrating inventions, and anticipating the future. The exhibitions have always been global events that shaped the course of human history as well as demonstrated the future trends.
