DTEK Group's critical business infrastructure backup will be supported by StarLink's global satellite Internet. The first special batch of terminals for Ukrainian energy arrived in Ukraine today after the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine addressed SpaceX. These are the first 50 satellite Internet stations that Elon Mask has provided directly to DTEK Group as humanitarian aid during the war.
"Today the whole civilized world has joined the fight against the aggressor, Ukraine feels the support of our partners and the international community. The further we get, the more support we receive, which we lay in the foundation for Ukraine's victory. Power engineers continue making an all-out effort to resume stable operation of Ukraine's critical infrastructure, "said DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko.
The maximum Internet speed of Starlink can reach 200 Mb / s, the tests at DTEK Zahidenergo were successful at a speed of 140 Mb / s, which is a sufficient indicator for the work of Ukrainian power engineers. The terminals are already distributed among DTEK Group companies, and the Group's IT specialists will set them up.
"Currently, the Internet works well in most Ukrainian cities, but it is important for businesses to have a contingency plan. The constellation of StarLink satellites operates in low Earth orbit, so the delay here is measured in milliseconds, not seconds, - commented Dmytro Osyka, CIO of DTEK Group. - Half of the received stations will be used to support the operation of networks, as this infrastructure suffers the most in the current military conditions, and constant communication and prompt restoration of network infrastructure and energy supply are extremely important for Ukraine’s population. The rest will be evenly distributed among the Group's businesses. We are grateful to SpaceX for its humanitarian aid and additional stations during these difficult times for Ukraine and its energy sector. "
