The equipment is compatible with Ukraine’s existing power system and arrives as winter temperatures fall to minus 20 degrees Celsius and attacks on civilian infrastructure intensify. Croatia is one of a small number of countries able to provide this type of legacy equipment, which is essential for fast repairs.
Since the full-scale invasion began, DTEK teams have restored electricity more than 33 million times, but shortages of spare parts remain acute as winter demand peaks and russian bombardment continues to destroy generating capacity across the country.
"DTEK is deeply grateful to the Republic of Croatia for supplying vital energy equipment to Ukraine at such a critical moment this winter. As russia intensifies attacks against civilian infrastructure and as temperatures fall to minus 20 degrees, Croatia's support directly strengthens DTEK's efforts to restore power to millions of people. We thank the Croatian government for its contribution of equipment that Croatia no longer needs or uses, which are critical for recovery of power generation. The decision to assist underlines the solidarity and shared commitment to Ukraine's recovery," DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said. The partnership shows how targeted technical support can make an immediate difference on the ground, helping keep Ukraine’s lights on when they are needed most.
