DTEK took part in the online discussion “Businesses that are changing the world. Collective Action Initiatives - Developing a Coalition Against Corruption”. The event was held within the framework of the Business Virtue Month, which aims to achieve compliance and business virtue through the exchange of best practices and familiarisation with practical cases.
Collective action platforms provide businesses with the opportunity to join forces to build a transparent business environment. This will stimulate sustainable economic, social and political development and improve the prospects for attracting investment to the country.
“It is very important that as many companies as possible take part in collective action to combat corruption. Business should collectively defend its ideas and reasonably propose the necessary changes to the legislation. This will help build an effective anti-corruption system in Ukraine at the state level, which will undoubtedly have a beneficial effect both for business and for society as a whole”, said DTEK Corporate Governance and Compliance Director Oleksiy Povolotskiy.
The Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance (UNIC) organised the discussion in cooperation with ACN (Anti-Corruption Network), OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) and the UN Global Compact in Ukraine.
DTEK Group has introduced mechanisms to counteract corruption and violations. Since 2010, the company’s compliance service, a special division within DTEK’s organizational structure, has been in operation. The task of the division is to build an effective internal system for combating corruption and train employees in the principles of ethical business conduct adopted in the company. The tools for building the system were the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, the Anti-Corruption Program, and compliance controls in key business processes.
DTEK's anti-corruption program has been developed in accordance with the best international practices and complies with the requirements of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Convention, the UN Convention against Corruption and other international documents.
