DTEK JOINS WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM’S PARTNERING AGAINST CORRUPTION INITIATIVE (PACI) TO SPEED UKRAINE’S TRANSFORMATION

DTEK has become the first Ukrainian company to join the World Economic Forum’s Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI) in an effort to smash corruption in all its forms and to support Ukraine’s post-war transformation.

DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said, “Joining PACI is a clear and unambiguous demonstration of our total commitment to beating corruption and helping build a new Ukraine. Partnering with some of the world’s most important companies is an important step for Ukrainian business. My resounding hope is that can bring understanding to a wider global audience about how to beat corruption in the most challenging circumstances.”

"We need more Patriots, more IRIS systems. We cannot protect ourselves against ballistic missiles if we don't have air defence systems," Timchenko told Reuters in an interview in Warsaw.

In an article covering Ukraine's grid preparation for another winter of war, Spiegel International also quoted DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko: "We are much better prepared this year".

DTEK`s primary goal was to restore all electricity grid damage from last winter, which it has accomplished. The imperative now is to protect them to every degree possible with expanded air defences, physical protection measures and the provision of ample spare parts.

  • On russia's winter attacks: we have learnt many things we never wanted to learn: the best materials to protect grids and power stations; the need to power down systems before an attack; and how to route power to homes and businesses when lines are down. The key this winter, however, will be air defence systems and the resilience of DTEK’s heroic employees.

DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko argued for a clean energy renaissance to strengthen Ukraine’s defences against russian attacks, as he outlined DTEK’s ongoing efforts to prepare for the winter heating season.

Speaking in a panel at the ReBuild Ukraine Expo in Warsaw, Mr Timchenko pointed to DTEK’s own Tyligulska wind power plant as the kind of decentralised energy infrastructure that was harder to hit and closer to consumers.

A CNN article this week focused on the threat of russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, highlighting DTEK’s work to prepare for the challenge of winter.

“DTEK, the country’s largest private energy company, has spent the past seven months restoring infrastructure, trying to boost output and bolstering defenses at its facilities across Ukraine. We restored what could be restored, bought back-up equipment and installed defenses around power plants,” DTEK chief executive Maxim Timchenko told CNN.

ATLANTIC COUNCIL: UKRAINE BRACES FOR ANOTHER WINTER OF RUSSIAN ATTACKS ON POWER GRID

In the article on Ukraine's preparations for winter, Atlantic Council emphasised DTEK's efforts:

“Ukraine’s largest private energy company, DTEK, has defied all odds by rebuilding some of its lost wind generation capacity in locations close to the front lines. Company officials pledge to expand this renewable energy capacity further.”

RUSSIA LAUNCHES FRESH ATTACK ON DTEK THERMAL POWER PLANT, CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE 

russia attacked a DTEK thermal power plant (TPP) close to the frontline on 16 November. It was the fourth strike on the same power station in recent weeks. All employees are safe and engineers have begun repairs on the severely damaged facility.
