In 1996, Oleksiy Povolotskiy graduated from the Law School of Kharkiv University of Internal Affairs. He later obtained a master's degree at the Scarman Centre, University of Leicester (U.K.). He received diplomas in joint programs: KMBS (Ukraine) and Academy DTEK - "Energy of Knowledge"; INSEAD (France) and Academy DTEK - "Leader's Energy," Harvard Business School - "Risk Management for Corporate Leaders."

 

He worked as a lecturer and head of the International Relations Department at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, where he built effective mechanisms for international cooperation and development of the university by international standards. With the University of Leicester and the support of the U.K. Foreign Office, he implemented a three-year project to build a modern police force in Ukraine.

 

Since 2007, he has worked as an associate at Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLP, where he successfully completed many projects in Corporate, M&A, Real Estate, I.P. rights, and Anti-Corruption.

 

Oleksiy Povolotskiy joined DTEK in 2010 as the Head of the Corporate Governance Department. Since 2017, he has also been responsible for the compliance function. In 2018, he was appointed Chief Corporate Governance and Compliance Officer.  

 

He is a member of the Supervisory Boards and Corporate Secretary of DTEK Energy B.V., DTEK Oil & Gas B.V., DTEK Renewables B.V., DTEK Grids B.V., and D. Solutions B.V.

 

Oleksiy managed to build a team of professionals and one of Ukraine's best European-style corporate governance and compliance systems.

 

In 2022, amidst russia's full-scale offensive on Ukraine, Mr. Povolotskiy headed a working group on humanitarian and technical assistance. As a result, fruitful relationships were established with European energy companies, equipment manufacturers, and international and governmental organizations such as USAID and the Energy Community Secretariat. It also ensured the receipt of critical equipment to restore damaged power facilities and bring light and warmth back to the homes of millions of Ukrainians.

 

He is an attorney, a member of the Board of the Corporate Governance Professional Association and a member of the Ukrainian Bar Association.
