DTEK joined the Civilians' Voices project by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

The displaced persons from the Donbas region who work at DTEK began to share their stories. Civilians' Voices is an online museum aiming to objectively and fully document testimonies of the civilians who have suffered as a result of the armed conflict in Donbas.

“The Museum of Civilians' Voices has been created on Rinat Akhmetov's personal initiative. This is an unprecedented documentary project, the mission of which is to tell the whole world about the destiny of civilians whose lives were forever divided into 'before' and 'after' by the conflict in Donbas. This is a source of the Donbas civilians' true stories told in the first person, by the own voices of people who have experienced the horrors of the armed conflict. Each of them has their own story. The Foundation plans to collect a million stories in the future, but in the short term, until 2025, it sets a goal of 100 thousand testimonies of the Civilians. We believe that in this way we keep the voices from the past and present for the sake of a better future,” said Natalia Yemchenko, member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

DTEK has joined the Civilians' Voices project. The first memories of the company's employees about the events in Donbas have been documented and sent to the Foundation.

“There is nothing more precious than human life. And the lives of many of our colleagues were forever changed by the war, having forced them to leave their homes and start all over again. From scratch. There are about 2 thousand such people in our company. Our employees are joining the Civilians' Voices project launched by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation to tell their stories - uncut and unedited, in the first person. Their voices are evidence of the Donbas conflict. These are stories about the past, for the sake of the future,” commented DTEK's Executive Director Dmytro Sakharuk.

The idea to create the Museum of Civilians' Voices belongs to Rinat Akhmetov. The concept of the project has been developed with the participation of reputable Ukrainian and international museum experts.

The collected stories (in audio, video or text format) will be made publicly available by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Scientists will be involved in the work on the archive. You can share your story using the following link. Please fill out a short questionnaire to contribute to memory keeping.
