Ukrainian enterprises can modernize production and reduce energy costs and emissions with the help of green investments in energy efficiencies. Oleksandr Onyshchenko, Director of Business Development for the energy supplier YASNO, elaborated in a column for Novoye Vremya.
“YASNO invested UAH 500 million in 80 energy-efficient projects saving customers UAH 300 million per year and reducing energy costs 25-90% for individual areas of production and buildings. These projects pay off in 2-3 years,” said Oleksandr Onyshchenko.
According to Onyshchenko, essentially YASNO finances 50-80% of the energy-efficient turnkey project while guaranteeing savings and providing equipment maintenance. Returns are achieved from the resulting savings.
As examples Onyshchenko cited turnkey projects YASNO financed and completed for metallurgical, mining, and energy enterprises as well as public buildings.
“Transitioning industrial lighting to modern LED-technology reduces electric bills up to 90%. Installing frequency converters for pumps and conveyors results in 35-50% energy savings. The use of modern compressors can reduce energy costs for pneumatic equipment by 38%. Energy efficient burners reduce natural gas consumption by 35%. Consequently, environmental emissions are also reduced.”
“Our experience shows that every €1 million invested in energy efficiencies reduces costs approximately 11.5 million kWh per year. To compare, the same amount must be invested in producing 1.2 million kWh of green energy at solar power plants or 3.5 million kWh at wind power plants. By helping customers optimize their energy consumption YASNO improves the environment,” concluded Onyshchenko.
