The second module "Cross-cultural contexts and philosophy of management" of the flagship EMBA program "Energy of Innovation" with the second stream of participants started with a course on the evolution of thinking, leadership and management based on integral dynamics together with Valery Pekar, a teacher of leading business schools in Ukraine, an entrepreneur and the author of the books "Valicoloured management" and "TalkS to the master Hai Tao about strategy".
In order to know how to manage people, you should understand people, feel their pains, needs, strengths, you should also understand that people's worldviews are significantly different, and the worldview works like a filter - everyone lives in their own world, with their own laws and regulations. The way of perceiving the world (paradigm of thinking) determines the features of decision-making, principles of organizing and managing business, ideas and ways of adapting to reality. It is important that the paradigms of thinking are characteristic of individuals and groups in particular and even large social systems in general. So, thanks to the theory of integral dynamics, the participants were able to understand the specifics of interactions both in their own teams and in the corporate culture of the company, what approaches to find towards certain colleagues, various departments and entire organizations.
Professor, Doctor of Economics, author of more than 150 scientific publications Vladislav Beloshapka completed the course on strategic management with organizational design in support of strategy and criteria for evaluating strategic projects, and Nadezhda Vasilyeva, the founder of DTC, shared an example from business and a case study for implementing a strategy in the transformation period at Microsoft and Ukroboronprom , co-founder of DTI, ex-head of Microsoft Ukraine, ex-deputy general director for digitalization and innovation at Ukroboronprom.
We continued to talk about strategic management in the context of game theory with Maxim Obrizan, associate professor and academic director of the KSE MBA. Game theory is clear strategic thinking and the art of anticipating your opponent's next move. Studying it can form a completely new view on how the world works and how people interact with each other. Game theory mathematically captures behavior in strategic situations in which the success of the decision maker depends on the decision of others. Unlike other branches of mathematics, which are predominantly of physical or physical and technological origin, game theory from the very beginning of its development was aimed at solving problems arising from economics.
Viktor Pynzenyk, Doctor of Economics, Professor of Lviv University, Minister of Economy (1995-1997) and twice Minister of Finance (2005-2006, 2007-2009) of Ukraine, made the participants rethink how macroeconomic processes work, function and interact with each other.
Andrew Shipilov, professor of strategy and international management at INSEAD, shared his international experience. The participants talked with Andrew about the tools of the “blue ocean” strategy, and other opportunities for finding new ideas, delving into the topic of alliances, partnerships and customer focus, and Evgeny Bushma, Director of Sales and Customer Service, shared a practical case of the customer-centered approach of the new YASNO brand. Global trends such as digitalization, energy efficiency, distributed generation and electric transport are rapidly spreading in Ukraine, and “Energy is a complex large mechanism, but everything should be simple and clear at the“ point of contact ”with customers,” Yevhen said. The YASNO portfolio includes a wide range of solutions that can meet the completely different needs of residential and legal clients. Such solutions are provided on a turnkey basis, removing unnecessary worries from the client as much as possible. Evgeniy also noted that the simpler the service is, the more necessary it will be.
The emotional point of the module was the performance of one of the best jazzmen in Ukraine, author and host of radio programs and TV presenter, Alexei Kogan, who compared business with jazz, because business has long learned to use music to build an emotional connection with customers and increase sales. Aleksey also noted that it is not easy to talk about jazz and business, because jazz is not part of the structure of show business, but in business, as in jazz, improvisation is possible only when it is well prepared.
7 project teams are already working on finding topics for innovative strategic projects and will soon present them to stakeholders and start planning and implementing the pilot. “The task of the first two modules is to inspire participants to search for a project topic, to help them identify, organize and use the energy of the environment for choosing a topic, taking into account the given criteria,” notes Maryana Khomitskaya, program manager.
"Energy of Innovation" is a practical EMBA-program at the management level of Academy DTEK.
