DTEK Energy is repairing thermal power plants before the 2023/2024 heating season.
In addition to the restoration work at the company's generating facilities due to russia's attacks, the power engineers are also preparing power units as part of this year's repair campaign.
Currently, seven power units are in the process of being repaired at different stages of readiness. Earlier, in March-April, two repairs were already completed. According to preliminary data, the company's investments in the repair campaign at TPPs in the first four months of the year amounted to over UAH 890 million. At the same time, almost UAH 7 billion is needed to restore the equipment damaged and destroyed by the enemy at thermal power plants.
"The energy sector is facing another challenging task. We need to restore equipment quickly after enemy attacks and repair power units working extremely hard this winter. We need to do all this when thermal generation operates at maximum capacity due to the repair campaign at nuclear units. Another major challenge is the acute liquidity shortage in the market. Given the extent of damage to TPPs, we do not have enough funds to repair and restore the units. Therefore, a unified program to restore the power system is needed. The reliability of the upcoming heating season in Ukraine depends on the completeness and timeliness of the repairs,"
said DTEK Energy CEO Ildar Saleev.
Last year, DTEK Energy's TPPs completed 26 repairs of power units. The previous year's repair campaign investments amounted to almost UAH 2.2 billion.
