The green transition is profoundly reshaping global energy. DTEK is embracing this revolution.

From our origins as a thermal power producer, DTEK is today transforming into a sustainable and resilient energy leader for Ukraine and Europe.

Across the continent, our windfarms, solar plants and battery storage parks are strengthening energy security and the drive to decarbonise.

And in millions of homes across Ukraine, DTEK’s 55,000-strong team is keeping the lights in the face of russian attacks against energy assets.

DTEK is setting new standards for corporate governance in Ukraine and meeting our corporate reporting obligations inside the European Union.

And this is just beginning of our sustainability story.

“From the bitter experience of war, Ukraine is forging a new energy future and accelerating our decarbonisation. Relentless russian attacks have shown us value of a decentralised energy system, with renewable generation at its core. Together with DTEK’s climate commitments and our mission to rebuild a brighter future, sustainability is today a strategic imperative across our Group.”

Our plan

We take our responsibilities to people and planet seriously, but DTEK wants to go further. That is why we are rolling out our largest ever sustainability programme to transform every part of our operations.

At every business and across the Group, we are challenging ourselves around what we do, and how we do it. That means accelerating our investments in the green transition and putting in place the tools to understand, manage and reduce our impacts on society and the environment.

We are equipping our people with the skills to identify sustainability risk, rolling out new systems to meet regulatory obligations and setting strategies that enable us to seize the opportunity that lies ahead.

“I joined DTEK because I saw the incredible impact the company could have. Whether that’s our critical role in decarbonising a nation’s energy system, or helping Ukraine’s energy system integrate with Europe’s, sustainability is core to this agenda”.

Investing in green

DTEK is at the center of the two crucial challenges facing European society: the climate crisis and the threat of war. Both have brought the need for a more resilient, decentralized energy system into sharp focus, accelerating DTEK's transformation into a green energy leader.

We are already Ukraine's largest renewables investor, but our plans go much further, including:

  • Investing more than €2 billion of capital expenditure in renewables in the next 5 years.
  • Building 200 MW of flexible battery storage by October 2025.
  • Quadrupling the capacity of our Tyligulska windfarm to 500 MW.
  • Developing a further 1.5 GW of wind capacity across Ukraine.
  • Creating 5 GW of renewable capacity in Italy, Romania, Poland and Croatia by 2030.
