Dmytro Sakharuk, CEO of DTEK Energy, entered the rating of top managers of Ukraine and became one of the three best managers of the energy sector according to the Focus magazine.
Abnormally warm winter reduced industrial production in the midst of economic hard times and COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the electricity demand contraction in the country. The situation in the industry was aggravated by the problems related to launch of a new energy market model. Nevertheless, last year DTEK Energy completed the infrastructure projects for converting the generating units of the Prydniprovska TPP and Kryvorizka TPP to run on Ukrainian flue - G grade coal instead of imported anthracite and made every effort to ensure the reliable operation of the Ukrainian energy system. In 2020, the company continues implementation of the digital projects and develops a pilot energy storage system at the Zaporizka TPP.
“The key event of the past year was launch of a new energy market model. Unfortunately, this landmark event for Ukraine came with a range of problems, which gave rise to a serious crisis in the industry. A meaningful dialogue between all market participants is required to overcome the crisis in the energy sector. Being a responsible business, we are ready to provide our expertise and assistance to resolve accumulated problems,” says Dmytro Sakharuk.
The rating of Focus magazine was compiled with participation of the industry experts, analysts and market participants, who identified the most significant markets for the Ukrainian economy in terms of their contribution to the GDP of the country. As a result, in each sector the experts selected TOP-3 managers with no ranking, who, in opinion of the rating’s compilers, are worthy of a title of the best top manager in his/her sphere in the preceding year.
