As Ukraine’s largest private energy company, DTEK is responsible for providing light and warmth to millions of people every year. Following full-scale invasion in 2022, russia has systematically targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in an attempt to plunge the country into darkness. They have attacked both the energy distribution network, operated by DTEK Grids, and our thermal power plants, operated by DTEK Energy. Since russia’s invasion, DTEK power plants and grids have endured innumerable missile, drone and artillery strikes. Our teams are working around the clock to bring back light: as of November 2024, we had reconnected Ukrainian households more than 15 million times and spent over €200m in 2024 alone on repairs to power plants.
This is our Fight for Light. Find out more, including how you can help.
As a patriotic Ukrainian company, DTEK stands with our armed forces and society. Since the full-scale invasion, we have directed 800 million hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and humanitarian goals.
The company bought equipment for the Ukrainian military: body armour, quadcopters, portable walkie-talkies, and vehicles. Our businesses have regularly handed over warm clothes, medicines, and food kits, and we donated 200 cars from our fleet to the military and continue to purchase and hand over pickup trucks regularly.
All assistance to defenders of Ukraine is provided within the framework of the Rinat Akhmetov Steel Front military initiative.
As well as supporting Ukraine’s brave fighting soldiers, the company plays a central role in supporting a thriving Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war we have:
DTEK is committed to acting as a secure and welcoming space to ensure the re-integration of veterans who are returning from the front – both DTEK employees and others.
Each veteran returning to DTEK is supported by a cross-functional team of specialists. Our programme includes psychological support, help in reintegrating through mentors, retraining, additional medical care for the wounded, and a health and rehabilitation programme. Some [4,500] DTEK employees are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"It is the duty of the state, business, and every Ukrainian to do everything possible to help veterans return to civilian life as soon as possible. These people are our pride, and we treat every one of them with gratitude and respect,” said Dmytro Sakharuk, DTEK's Executive Director.
