DTEK has attended the first German-Ukrainian Energy Day where the company had an opportunity to present its vision for the development of hydrogen technologies in Ukraine. In the opinion of Philipp Leckebusch, DTEK’s Chief technology officer, who participated in the event, the energy partnership should become a foundation for cooperation aimed at further sustainable development of the Ukrainian energy sector and its integration with European markets.
“Being an innovative leader of the energy sector, DTEK fully supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals and strives to become a carbon-neutral company as early as in 2040. We are happy to contribute our know-hows in the coal transformation, renewable energy, energy efficiency solutions, and hydrogen technologies to the German-Ukrainian energy partnership. This partnership will create a broad platform for cooperation bound to become a foundation for sustainable development of the Ukrainian energy sector and its integration with European markets”, - commented Philipp Leckebusch, DTEK’s CTO.
In his turn, Emanuele Volpe, DTEK's Chief Innovation Officer, noted that the development of hydrogen technologies will promote the decarbonization of energy-intensive industries and give them a competitive edge during a transition to the carbon-neutral economy.
“DTEK plans to launch a local hydrogen pilot project that will act as a catalyst for gradual development of the sector and accelerate the introduction of regulatory, technical, commercial, and logistics measures required to give a boost to the industry”, - said Emanuele Volpe.
Let's remind ourselves that DTEK was the first Ukrainian company that joined Hydrogen Europe, the association that brings together European leaders in hydrogen technologies. This membership gives the company an opportunity to build up a network of direct contacts with international partners interested in the development of the hydrogen economy both in Ukraine and other countries around the world.
Note: The German-Ukrainian Energy Day is the central annual event within the framework of the German-Ukrainian energy partnership that brings together politicians, businessmen, the expert community, and the public from the both states and provides them with an opportunity to share their experience and identify priories for cooperation. The first German-Ukrainian Energy Day has become the first public event showcasing the main areas of future cooperation where members of the general public from the both stated discussed the most relevant issues of the energy sector.
