DTEK Kyiv Grids has installed another safe structure for stork nests in the private sector of Bortnychi in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. It is the 8th such structure in the city and was installed on the site of a nest destroyed by bad weather.
Power engineers are installing the platforms as part of the #EnergyWings project to protect birds and prevent customer power outages. After all, accidents often occur when nests fall on electric wires. Despite the war, DTEK continues to restore and strengthen the city's energy infrastructure and develop power grids based on the principles of sustainable development.
"When our specialists arrived at the site to eliminate the accident, they saw a destroyed nest. Of course, the first thing we did was to repair the damaged power line and restore electricity to our customers. We needed more time to restore the socket to make a protective platform. As soon as we made it, we immediately installed it in place of the destroyed socket on the pole,"
- DTEK Grids explains.
Description. DTEK has been arranging stork nests since 2013. The company has been doing this for the last three years as part of the large-scale #EnergyWings project. The installation of unique structures for birds is a continuation of DTEK's sustainable development policy and the implementation of the UN Global Compact in terms of conserving biodiversity.
Currently, this is the 8th such safe platform for storks in Kyiv. Compared to other regions where DTEK Grids companies operate, Kyiv does not have many nesting places for such birds. As a rule, they choose places away from big cities. At the end of this year, we plan to install another platform for stork nests in Kyiv.
