Standing with Ukraine

Bringing warmth and light during war

As Ukraine's largest private energy company, DTEK's mission is to provide light and warmth to millions of people every year. Following full-scale invasion in 2022, russia has systematically targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure in an attempt to plunge the country into darkness. They have attacked both the energy distribution network, operated by DTEK Grids, and our thermal power plants, operated by DTEK Energy. Since russia's invasion, DTEK power plants and grids have endured innumerable missile, drone and artillery strikes. Our teams are working around the clock to bring back light: as of June 2025, DTEK energy workers have restored power to 20 million households.

This is our Fight for Light. Find out more, including how you can help.

Fight for Light
Contributing to a stronger Ukraine

As well as supporting Ukraine's brave fighting soldiers, the company plays a central role in supporting a thriving Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war we have:

  • Contributed more than €2.6 billion in taxes, including paying tax bills early in 2022 to ensure Ukraine's public services could continue to run during the early days of the invasion.
  • Provided free electricity to the military, hospitals, and critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk regions, providing more than 100 necessary infrastructure facilities with free electricity worth almost 350 million hryvnias.
  • Provided blood for the armed forces of Ukraine and victims of war via 860 employee blood donors.
Supporting our veterans

At DTEK Group, we believe that caring for people is not just a commitment, but a natural extension of the values that unite our team. That is why our support for veterans goes beyond formalities — it is grounded in sincerity, honour, pride, and consistent, thoughtful effort. Our Veterans program is supported by a cross-functional team of qualified professionals — including HR, legal, medical, psychological, and social policy experts — ensuring the creation of an environment of mindfulness, respect, and confidence.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, more than 5,000 of our colleagues have served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces to defend the country. Over 4,000 of them are currently serving. We recognize that the path back to civilian life is not easy, and we are committed to making that journey as supportive and dignified as possible.

Nearly 1,000 of our colleagues have already returned to civilian life, with almost half of them resuming their careers in DTEK’s offices and facilities. We are also welcoming veterans to employment from the market. We are proud that defenders choose DTEK and trust us.
