Ukrainian and European activists from the initiative “Stop Bloody Energy” gathered today in Davos holding a rally, targeting the energy businesses which continue to work with Russian companies.

Russia has unleashed the most brutal and bloodiest war of the 21st century and has been doing its best to destroy Ukraine as a country. Tens of thousands of people have been killed, and hundreds of towns and villages have been destroyed.

Nevertheless, Russia continues to receive funding to continue the bloody war. Since 24 February 24, it has been paid over € 63 billion euros through the sale of its energy resources alone. Russians are using every cent kill innocent Ukrainians. This amount could buy nearly 8,500 Kalibr cruise missiles, which Russia is deploying to destroy crucial infrastructure.

Stop Bloody Energy’s main goal is to call on international business and energy companies to stop working in Russia and stop financing Russian terror. At the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, activists asked these companies to examine their conscience. Do they really want to sell the lives of innocent people to earn money in Russia? What is more important: money or life?

There was also a performance by Ukrainian artist Daria Koltsova. "Lullaby" is the materialization of statistics showing the number of children killed in the first three months of the war, singing them their last lullaby and letting go of every Ukrainian child taken away by Russia.

“We are convinced that the only way to stop the war – to stop the Russian aggression – is to deprive the Kremlin of sources of funding it so badly needs to carry on killing Ukrainians. Business must leave Russia, now, starting with the energy sector,” said Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, who attended the performance.

Mr. Kuleba continued: “Russia does not have the technical capabilities to extract and transport oil, gas and coal. It needs the co-operation of the energy sector. Withdrawing that co-operation will both show Russia it is alone, as well as depriving it of the funds it so badly needs.”

According to economists, Russia's export earnings from energy sales could reach $ 321 billion in 2022. That is almost five times Russia's annual military budget, meaning the Kremlin can convert that money into weapons to destroy first Ukraine, before switching its aim to other European countries.

International business and energy companies must stop financing Russian terror.
